Where Have All Of The Heroes Gone?
There comes a time in all of our lives where our reality gets shaken up a bit. My life is certainly no exception to that rule. So often as I contemplate the individuals that have been a part of my journey, I often wonder if by admiring certain qualities in another individual if we really set our own selves up for inevitable disappointment. Often, it is easy to respect someone so much that they could never possibly live up to our level of admiration that we have for them.
It brings me to the question, if it truly feasible to look up to someone? After all, we are all human and prone to flaws and errors. It may be true that the only person you know in life is yourself, for everyone is multi-faceted and while it is not completely impossible, it is quite difficult to know all of the eccentricities of another human being. And is it really fair to the object of one's admiration to place that type of pressure upon them?
I am not saying that people do not have influence, but influence and admiration differ. We are all influenced by others. You could be having a glorious day and someone with a bad attitude crosses your path and changes your entire feeling at that moment. They have influenced you. They have influenced your feelings, thoughts and behavior all by a slight and simple interaction. But to admire someone, we hold that individual on a higher plain of wonderment. Almost as if we seek some unspoken approval from them.
Could it be that we are searching out a better version of our very selves in other people? And if so, what does that say about the overall human spirit?

I look up to different people for different reasons but not to a single person for all aspects, the beauty of the human soul is its failing at achieving the perfect.
Considering we are all human and all have flaws looking up to someone you admire for some reason is still nice. I incorporate pieces and bits from others as I see they fit my lifestyle and roll with it. Maybe someone will think I'm cool enough to be imitated and maybe not but that will always be up to an individual.
I can't say I completely hold any one person higher than others.
Although I do admire certain qualities of people considered by many both good, and bad.
Yes, I think it would be the search for those qualities you could identify with that could be seen as positive steps forward, or rather a way to find a perspectives that helps you understand how to improve.
I don't know it all, and I really don't like when people act like they do. I'd never be happy thinking I know everything, or that I'd have no more room to question, or grow.
